Martial Arts and Innovation…

The Bak Fu Pai system has been a complete system intact since 1644 and has been passed down through generations of the Doo family.  Grandmaster Doo Wai has generously shared his family secrets to Shi Gung Rizzo and Sifu Wood, and it turn to the other instructors and to you.  Most people default to a position of tradition and innovation, being counter to each other.  But here at White Tiger Martial Arts, that is completely false.

Definition of INNOVATION

1: the introduction of something new

2: a new idea, method, or device

Not one single person has walked through the doors of White Tiger as a master of everything Bak Fu Pai.  Every single student, whether brand new or possessing a high ranking degree from another system, has something to learn and room for improvement.  The Martial Arts path is a lifetime journey.  Why is this statement so important in our personal and martial art growth…simple:

We do most of our learning through our failures, and not our successes.

Be an innovator in your life.  Introduce something new into your mind, body, and spirit.   Be clear that you will not be a master of anything on your first try.  You must try, fail or go through the hardships, then adjust and try some more.  Does 10k times sound familiar?

Know this to be a truth; if you don’t try, your growth and success will be severely limited.

If you want to reach a level of mastery in martial arts or anything; changing your relationship to failure will dramatically improve your enjoyment of the process.  Try taking on the idea, that when something is difficult in your training or you don’t understand it, that it’s a learning opportunity for you.  Embrace that space…embrace the frustration and change your relationship to it.  When you feel it, think about how you’re growing and moving towards your goal.  Every single breakdown will be you getting that much closer to mastery.  Acknowledge those moments as building blocks and make them a joyful and fun part of your journey.

We are here to support you in your training goals.  Always reach out to us with questions or request for assistance.  Train hard and live well.
